This role is aimed at individuals who are looking for their first longer-term paid role in TV.  We expect those selected will be really hard workers with previous experience in a creative field – this could have been gained on a voluntary basis and might include roles in theatre, stand-up, short film-making or helping out at TV filming events.  A long-term passion to be involved in making great content will be essential but also an understanding that entry-level positions will require plenty of enthusiasm regardless of the nature of the task.

Duties Involved

  • Office administration –assisting with the day-to-day working of the office. Taking on tasks such as photocopying, lunch runs, managing petty cash, ordering stationary, setting up meeting rooms, supervising work experience tasks and covering reception. These tasks are shared through a priority system supervised by the Facilities Manager
  • Supporting Development teams - assigned to work on development activities with our in-house creative teams (scripted comedy and drama, comedy entertainment and entertainment) and their Development Producers.  This might include:
    •  Setting up and participating in new ‘format’ run-throughs
    • Casting support for newly commissioned Programmes or script read throughs
    • General location running and prop buying for taster tapes and pilots
    • Background research for a variety of programme ideas in development
    • Ad hoc filming support
  • Running a technical support service – this may include:
    • Setting up Camera and Audio equipment for Run throughs / castings
    • International DVD production
    • Reproducing or editing images (basic) or other ad hoc requests
    • Recalling tapes or files from our Archive

Training and Development Opportunities:

Within your period of time as a runner you will specifically be able to attend external course on Foundation Self Shooting Camera operation and TV Researchers Guide. Over the period of the contract you will gain practical hands-on opportunities to understand the basics of how content production works which may include:

  • Attending an edit
  • location work experience (where available)
  • Running on a studio-based production

Contract Details

  • Based in Camden – London
  • Usually works as a team of 2 Runners reporting to the Facilities Manager
  • Six-month fixed-term contract
  • Salary of £23,320 per annum
  • Hours – 40 per week.
